Good to know
Root and pack formats
pack.mcmeta must be at the ZIP root. Older versions use pack_format and, from 1.20.2, supported_formats. New versions use min_format/max_format with major/minor versions. A matching declared format does not prove that textures or models work.
Inspection limits
Standard stored/deflated ZIP metadata is supported. Encrypted, multi-disk and ZIP64 archives are rejected. Limits: 20,000 entries, 512 MB declared uncompressed size, 1 MB pack.mcmeta and 4 MB pack.png. Only metadata and the optional icon are decompressed and checksummed; other asset contents are not tested.
